50th and 70th anniversary
In November 1989, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Soroptimist International of Wellington. Mrs Wendy Harland was the President at this time. A programme to celebrate this occasion included luncheons and home visits, culminating in a dinner at the R.A. Vance stand of the Basin Reserve.
In November 2009, a lunch was held at The Pines to mark the occasion of our 70th anniversary. A very special part of this event, hosted by our then president Catherine O’Donnell, was the presence of five members of Soroptimist International of Sakai in Japan, one of our Friendship Link clubs, resplendent in their kimonos. (In the same year we became a registered charity with the Charities Commission).
