SI WELLINGTON HISTORY
Soroptimist International of Wellington was the first club of its kind in New Zealand. On 16th November 2019 we celebrated 80 years in our community.
A women’s service club, Soroptimist International began in Oakland, California, U.S.A in October 1921. Soroptimists derives their name from Latin “soror” meaning sister/woman and “optima” meaning best. Soroptimist is interpreted as ‘the best for women’.
